It includes the emissions generated from heating your home, driving your car, producing the goods you buy and the food you eat, etc.\u00a0 If you want to find out what your carbon footprint is, you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/www3.epa.gov\/carbon-footprint-calculator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this calculator<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carbonfootprint.com\/calculator.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this one<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In CCL, we believe that reducing your own emissions is important but not sufficient.\u00a0 What is really needed is a comprehensive national policy (a great first step would be the <a href=\"http:\/\/annarborccl.org\/index.php\/energy-innovation-and-carbon-dividend-act-eicda\/\">Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act<\/a>!).\u00a0 Thus, we think two of the most important things you can do are: call on your elected officials to support impactful policies, and vote for candidates at every level of government who prioritize climate action.<\/p>\n<p>If you are looking for ways to reduce your own carbon footprint, these articles provide great suggestions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalstewards.org\/reduce-carbon-footprint.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twenty Ways to Reduce your Carbon Footprint<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ei.columbia.edu\/2018\/12\/27\/35-ways-reduce-carbon-footprint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The 35 Easiest Ways to Reduce your Carbon Footprint<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And, to see the relative impact of different actions, see the figure below from a research paper by Seth Wynes and Kimberly A Nicholas, <a href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.1088\/1748-9326\/aa7541\/meta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cThe climate mitigation gap: education and government recommendations miss the most effective individual actions\u201d, <em>Environ.
