Community members attending a talk on societal change by Rajiv Shah<\/a>, President of the Rockefeller Foundation, at Rackham Auditorium on January 30 were greeted by an unusual sight.\u00a0 Ten snow people had gathered demanding action on climate change.\u00a0 They carried signs with messages such as, \u201cSnowpeople for climate action,\u201d \u201cHelp me, I\u2019m melting!,\u201d \u201cSave the snow,\u201d and \u201cCall Congress on Climate.\u201d\u00a0 The snow people were assisted by collaborators from the Citizens\u2019 Climate Lobby who handed out fliers encouraging people to contact their representatives in Washington, DC about addressing planet-warming carbon pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nancy Lincoln Stoll, one of the coordinators of the event, said \u201cWe were waiting for a good day to stage a Snowman Protest and this event put on by the University\u2019s School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) came along on a nice snowy day.  Perfect. The Protest is lighthearted, but we hope that people get the message to act on the serious problem of our planet heating up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizens\u2019 Climate Lobby is a non-profit, non-partizan organization with over 450 chapters in the US and abroad working for a fair and just price on carbon pollution as an effective way to solve the problem of a warming planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
